Verses Referenced and Teaching Notes
1 Kings 11:28 NKJV
The man Jeroboam was a mighty man of valor; and Solomon, seeing that the young man was industrious, made him the officer over all the labor force of the house of Joseph. Solomon later sought to kill Jeroboam. Solomon saw his leadership skills, he was capable and gifted but he also saw his rebellion. Bad combination; Weaker men always seek power, stronger men have it thrust upon them. I certainly did not seek the authority God has given me here in the ministry. God gave the increase. It keeps me on my knees. Be careful of people who seek after power. I have learned they may have bad motives.
Prov. 11:14 NKJV
Where there is no counsel, the people fall; But in the multitude of counselors there is safety.
Prov. 15:22 NKJV
Without counsel, plans go awry, But in the multitude of counselors they are established.
Prov. 24:6 NKJV
For by wise counsel you will wage your own war, And in a multitude of counselors there is safety.
1 Sam. 23:2 NKJV
Therefore David inquired of the Lord, saying, "Shall I go and attack these Philistines?"
1 Sam. 23:4 NKJV
Then David inquired of the Lord once again.
Prov. 15:1 NKJV
A soft answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger.
Prov. 15:1 NLT
A gentle answer deflects anger, but harsh words make tempers flare.
Matt. 5:43-45 NKJV
43 "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' 44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
James 3:15-18 NKJV
15 This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, and demonic. 16 For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. 17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. 18 Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
1 Kings 11:28-33 NKJV
28 The man Jeroboam was a mighty man of valor; and Solomon, seeing that the young man was industrious, made him the officer over all the labor force of the house of Joseph. 29 Now it happened at that time, when Jeroboam went out of Jerusalem, that the prophet Ahijah the Shilonite met him on the way; and he had clothed himself with a new garment, and the two were alone in the field. 30 Then Ahijah took hold of the new garment that was on him, and tore it into twelve pieces. 31 And he said to Jeroboam, "Take for yourself ten pieces, for thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: 'Behold, I will tear the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon and will give ten tribes to you 32 (but he shall have one tribe for the sake of My servant David, and for the sake of Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel), 33 because they have forsaken Me, and worshiped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the people of Ammon, and have not walked in My ways to do what is right in My eyes and keep My statutes and My judgments, as did his father David.
Phil. 4:8-9 NKJV
8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy - meditate on these things. 9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.
Phil. 4:8-9 NLT
8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. 9 Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me-everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.
John 17:20-23 NKJV
20 "I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; 21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. 22 And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: 23 I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.
John 21:22 NKJV
Jesus said to him, "If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you? You follow Me."
